Autumn Ball 2024

On Friday the 1st of November 2024, the Youth Group of the London Cathedral, dedicated to St Mary Magdalene, held its first Autumn Ball.

Opening its doors to youth from the other Local Orthodox Churches present in Great Britain, the group rekindled the tradition — long preserved in the Church Abroad — of formal Balls for young people. In the months prior to the occasion, lessons in ballroom dancing had been provided by learned volunteers of the Cathedral Parish.

Realising that a large space would be needed for the nearly 100 youth who registered for the Ball, the Youth Group was blessed by the strong fraternal relations between the Diocese and the Serbian Orthodox Church to employ the Serbian Parish Hall for the occasion.

The event was a precursor to the White Ball, which tradition the Youth Group has also received a blessing to restore, and which they are already in the midst of planning..
